Kindle2 - handy!
...that guy in photos 11 and 12 has on some really nice nail polish in pics 13 and 14. Oh, wait, that wouldn't be another person holding the Kindle2 in the close-ups, would it?

Very Neat. Can it play just Kindle docs or will it accommodate regular pdf's?
Are they ever going to be reasonably priced for the general public?
It has huge potential when price point is below good PDA or low price cell phone.
I'm waiting and holding onto what limited cash I have.

What? Still no back lighting? Can't use it for reading in bed.
Not on my wish list yet.

Who wants back lighting?
Kindle reads like a book - that's what makes it great. If I wanted backlighting, I'd read books on my computer.

My OLPC also has a grey scale display readable in full sunlight. Plus it has a backlikghted full-color scree for dim-light use I suspect i could download books to it using either its built in browser or a firefox activity (application) that is available.
Unfortunately they are not on the market. If they were they would cost about $200.00. They can be obtained through (ugh) E-bay.
Kindle just sounds like another overchoice of stuff.

More: Oh, i forgot to mention the screen swivels to make it a tablet style reader with control buttons.

I think Amazon should
1) lower the price of the machine (I could live with WiFi if that's necessary to reduce the price)
2) reduce the price for ebooks
3) increase compatibility with other ebook sources
4) add a model that has a larger screen
The Kindle is intriguing, but I'm not ready to jump.

Kindle, and all other readers, are a great idea; for the most part. If you travel a lot this could save a lot of space in you backpack. But ultimately it comes down to this: reading a real book with real pages is a pleasure that electronics will never, never surpass!

I think this is one of the most innovative ideas ever. Can you imagine EVERYONE reading on gadgets like this? I will never own one at this price however, because I can get a netbook and it will do more. Come on - what could make this so expensive? If more people bought them and used them because they were reasonably priced, we would see them all over (great free advertising). I hope someone takes this idea and makes some that are affordable!

I have my Kindle 1, and my ONLY complaint is that I have to convert my SIZABLE MSReader .lit file library over to MobiPocket format files to use them!
I love the ocnvenience of the Whispernet downloading direct from Amazon, AS LONG AS IT'S A BOOK I BOUGHT FROM AMAZON. Too bad I can't store ALL my Kindle books there. Oh well.
I don't understand the complaint about memory space on the old versus the new Kindle; I've crammed the ENTIRE Honor Harrington Universe, PLUS the Eric Flint 1632-Universe into the Kindle 1 memory, along with the User's guide, and still didn't fill it up. What's their problem?
