• I can't play the physical drums, but I sure have a lot of fun tapping away on my Apple iPad 2.

• Google Maps works well on the iPad, especially when you have the 3G model with GPS receiver.

• Photobooth: it is really amazing how completely pointless thing could bring

so much joy to people's mundane lives, where moments of pure happiness are so rare. Photobooth is one of such small no-use gems, for which any sane *living person* (not technocratic android, which, by translation, only represents something *similar* to humane) would be thankful much more than for PS/2 or RS-232 ports built-in in the tablet.

@denisrs do you need a hug?

my apple ipad has arrived but since i live out of the country, i'm still waiting for my cousin to bring it over. so i've been reading all sorts of articles, in anticipation. i hadn't realized how many angry and sad people existed.

photobooth, as mundane as you call it, has actually brought life to get-togethers, and laughter to kids. i assume you lack that sort of camaraderie with people, by your attitude.

I read a lot that has been written, but I just got convinced now with this screenshot.

So they do an HD version of Angry Birds??? Wow, this is the most revolutionising and disruptive human creation since the invention of the wheel and the automobile.

Pay few hundred $$ to watch TV, play with photobooth and google maps? It is just sad.

It continues to amaze me that, virtually without exception, all of the early reviewers tout recreational fun & games uses for this expensive device, but never even attempt to make the case that it's a great new productivity tool. Why do you suppose that is?

@XMissileGuy
Why do you suppose that is? Maybe because we all like to play more than we like to work.

@XMissileGuy because it's more interesting to read/write about fun. there are some "productivity" articles. keep searching.

Those are your favorite apps? To me that indicates that the iPad has no use as a business tool; just an overpriced toy.

I use the iPad with RDP to connect to multiple Terminal Servers & Multiple Exchange accounts. I use PRTG app to monitor my Network.

Only iDevices display folders of email using GUI that is why I dumped the Blackberry for the iPhone originally and added the iPad. Maybe Blackberry & MS7.0 phones do the same now but they didn't when I bought the first iPhone so to say they are not a business device is absurd.

@kapner@... So, which RDP app do you use? There seem to be a ton of them.

That's the fantastic thing about iPad, you can turn it to whatever you want it to be with the right software. Personally I would go for PocketCloud as the RDP client and ThinServer as the Windows Desktop OS back end terminal server. Pretty good combo that replaces the need for Netbook !

@StinkyCheeseMan

that's not true. i work in an advertising agency, and the iPad works beautifully with everything.

lotus notes
keynote
adobe notes (for drawing)
penultimate
iMovie (always good for animatics)
TV board (awesome app that has illustrations of people in different positions for all my storyboard needs)
pages
numbers
pdf annotate

and there are a ton more!

My nephew uses his iPad extensively for business applications, in addition to having fun with it also. I plan to use mine for note taking in my BSF lectures, as well as business applications and fun things also.

• March Maddness

I think that it's safe to say that I was the most impressed of the March Madness app than any other app I've ever used on the iPhone or iPad. Streaming games in your hand? The future has come! Lol

How much do you think it costs monthly or otherwise for all the apps, data, gps, etc?

the ipad has a microphone which few people know about. download the dragon sofware and you can dictate documents to your ipad. then format them with quick office. after that you can e mail them. once all this is done you can turn the ipad off and put it next to you on the hammock in the backyard and take a nice nap on a nice saturday afternoon. this is what ipad can do for you. you can be productive and also have a life away from an office without having to have a remote office setup screwing up your afternoon nap time on weekends.
