Apple's grandest store: Paris Opera

Apple has added another retail location in Paris in a beautifully restored building smack dab next to the French capital's Théâtre National de l'Opéra. Formerly a bank, Apple has done an incredible job of keeping the original aesthetic details including wrought-iron railings, spiral staircases and marble floors - all under a massive shining skylight. Here's a look.

...I'd be filled with so much fake woodgrain and plastichrome that I'd be a model of American chintz.
Wish they would build one in another city in France rather than adding a second store to a city that already has one! Some of us poor people have a 400km trip to get to an Apple store, and now Parisiens have two on their doorstop!

@thking Be patient. Soon you'lll find them cropping, just like starbucks... sans the nice coffee.... and filled with french geniuses... Lavoisier would be proud...
Especially when compared to our local Apple store in the mall at Rockaway, New Jersey.

Apple just emptied a random building and put desks inside, and a some Apple adverts. Bland but i guess good enough, they want your attention on the products, not the decor.
Too bad so many of the photos are of Apple products, not the store.

My thoughts exactly... and I'm a Mac guy. Except for a couple of shots that show the architecture in the background, what was the point of all the close-ups of Apple products? Eight out of eighteen are CU's of product. This was supposed to be about the store, not what's being sold inside.
But then again, it's what I've come to expect from ZDNet.

What a beautiful store indeed. I love the old architecture of the building. It's just a shame that it's filled with all those obnoxious french people.....lol

The building is a timeless classic...
