Toddler dies after mistaking gun for Wii controller

A three year-old accidentally killed herself when she mistook a gun for a Wii controller.

Cheyenne Alexis McKeehan of Norene, Tenn., shot herself after her stepfather left his loaded handgun on a table. Her mother stated that Cheyenne often played shooting games on her Nintendo Wii console, and (in the manner of three year-olds) must have mistaken the real gun for her controller.

The Sheriff in charge of the investigation said:

"The unfortunate thing is that this Nintendo game called Wii had what looks like a solid black, basically automatic-looking type mechanism that operates the game. Unfortunately, the stepdad also had a .380 caliber black Smith & Wesson. The child was used to playing the video game."

No offense, but I find it a bit creepy that someone called "The_Postman" is making comments about guns.

80% operator error
KBot Updated - 22nd Feb
Most of the major ones, with the exception of the laptop overheating and the wrist issues with electronics are all due to operator oversight. Don't be outside in a lightning storm, don't leave loaded guns where kids can get them, look where you're driving, don't txt and drive, pay attention to the melting metals around you, secure your hardware and don't be a lazy ass and play games continually without at least taking a break and stretching once in a while.

The laptop shouldn't have overheated; thermal shut-off should have occurred. This is a manufacturer issue. copel tunnel is a natural occurrance of doing anything continually and as for the facebook xray, I'm sure the doctor was prepping for the surgery when the guy took the photo.
@KBot

That is another good one.

All but one of these sound like candidates for Darwin Awards.

WTF? 'Stepfather left loaded gun on the table.' Maybe it's time for a mild form of gun control: only people with at least a two-digit IQ can have firearms. That should get rid of about 99 % of them (the guns, not the stupid people).

The physics that support the theory of launching a 3 to 4 pound object from the back passenger seat upwards over the front seat head rest then come down on her neck as her head plunged twards the steering wheel. it points to high speed frontal collision which forced the rear of the car to "catepult the laptop". This means high speed is the major factor or else laptop would have just fell to the floor. Speed killed her not the laptop.
