Not the worst cracked iPhone screen we've seen, but it's still a bummer.

I'm fixing my sisters cracked screen now. GOOD POST!
Now if I could just get it on Verizon!

Not only that...

@Mack Swift

Send the SWAT teams after him and kick down his door when they're not home. And then take all of his stuff as evidence.

iPhone 2G ?
It is really possible ?
I thought that both layers of glass and digitilizer were factory sealed.

He's not "fixing" anything either, just replacing a part.

I imagine a replacement screen would be $50-$80 or so...

No kidding

He paid $21.95 for a kit to take apart an iPhone. How much did he spend on the replacement screen?
@james.faction

Oh ok, I see. Thanks.

So? If he paid $80 for it, he's still only in about $100; that's HALF what the Apple store would charge. Dumb point.
The kit I looked at on eBay came with the screen. I posted a link yesterday but it might have been considered spam.

My apologies.

Probably 9 cents for the labour...

...and 18 cents for the plastic, if it was done back home, at Pingguo.

I am an iPhone user from its first month of release in 2007 and being upgrading it almost every year, now stuck with AT&T contract. I can tell you one thing Android Incredible is no different from iPhone, infact in many cases it has better cool features than iPhone .... go for Android on Verizon if you're really looking for iPhone .... it is my opinion after using iPhone for 3Yrs now and comparing it to Android at a verizon store last week ...

@srikanthreddys

WTF does that have to with a boy replacing a screen?
Where do you buy the part from? What is the part number?
This honestly not the best article I've seen on ZDNet. It just wasted my time actually. Anyone can order a iphone opening kit. That kit does not come with a new screen, but that can be ordered by anyone as well. So what the boy is 10 years old, when I was 10 I was learning how to code HTML and do Photoshop art work. For this to be an article on a Electronic Tech site, it sure is not interesting in the least bit.
the kit includes the screen according to the add on Ebay
Way to go, Brett! Bravo! Good job.
cool happy wonder what the guitar picks were for
