Dell Streak, in hand

The Dell Streak is technically an Android tablet -- one of the first to hit the market -- but it's actually a lot more like a smartphone. Take a look in our full unboxing and comparison gallery.

I love this. It makes iPad look foolish. It's not a phone, it's a tablet with phone capabilities. Anyone trying to hold it up to their ear should be ashamed of themselves. lol

Where did they get the car dashboard when it is shown used as a GPS unit. Leave it to Beaver?

@TelecomPower Now, don't jump to any conclusions, here!
That dashboard could just as easily have come from "The Twilight Zone", "Dragnet", or "Bewitched" for all we know!

It seems to be photoshoped over an old photo (why do that?). At least it is a classy car, a Mercedes Benz
Why no front view comparison to the iPhone on the angle view for thickness?

Seriously, who cares if it barely fits in my shirt pocket! Fact is the screen is 100% better than the iPhone + Others. Whatever happened to user friendly and does everyone think that small is good? Get over it; the Streak is the way to go!
@amasys

Since when is something so big it is a PITA to carry everywhere user friendly? As a cell phone, the Droid X is too large. This is just sad.

Now as an alternate to a small tablet, not bad. But a cell phone?
@Bruizer
Not a bad niche idea - small tablet with phone capability.
I was looking but Android 1.6 truned me off - for now...
I like the unit and am interested in checking it out my only hold out is its made by dell and they built crap devices and thier customer service sucks about as bad as sonys

@Fletchguy
Yeah - Dell does good and bad.
Have a top XPS - has been fantastic! Had an entry level inpsiron - ugh....

Got to try out a Streak - someone I met had one - and found it to be a pretty solid build. Looks like it will hold up well and feels solid - not cheap.

It is very large to hold up like a phone, but I always use a headset of some kind anyway- I don't like feeling like I'm needing to clean a touchscreen any more than I do anyway- and the GPS, for one feature would be much easier to use on the bigger screen- AND if it performs well making calls, I think it looks great! (note to my iPhone: "You'd better start stepping up to the plate, buddy!"

Looks nice. Good form. Based on the packaging I hope the engineering and quality of the device itself was not done by the package folks. It will be interesting to see if this hybrid has legs.

Not impressed

This isn't much different than my Archos 5 tablet running Android.

Give me 10-11 inch high res tablet with a 1.6 GHz CPU running Android and I'm there.
@Tim Patterson

Ditto! I"d drop my 7" Android Tablet (Taiwan knockoff) in a second if I could get my hands on a reasonably priced 10", 1.6 ghz, running Android 2.2!

So, if they were ever going to build such an animal, I'd probably even pay a wee bit extra to have a 32 or 64Gb SSD included - unless the Ultra SD cards come way down in price.
