December changes for Facebook: 'Memories'

Facebook Memories adds a timeline to your Facebook history, such as how many statuses you have written in a particular year, how many friends you added, and some of the photos from that particular category of friends.

Just another gimmick instead of some real improvement. Sounds like Facebook is really in need of a rectal craniotomy.

What does everyone think of the new 'Memories' feature? Is this something useful, or yet another feature you could do without?

And should Facebook have better practices in place to prevent downtime as we saw yesterday, when they get it wrong and expose something before it's ready?
