WebOS sizzled, then fizzled
Palm made a big splash at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show, announcing its new mobile operating system, WebOS, and a touch-screen smartphone called the Pre. Here, Palm Executive Chairman Jon Rubinstein holds up the Pre for all to see. Unfortunately, the Pre, and follow-up phone Pixie, failed to make much of a dent in the market, forcing Palm to sell itself. Acquirer Hewlett-Packard didn't fare much better, and dumped WebOS on to the open-source community.

@allen@... Great point, not to mention the fact that it gives people like me who have astigmatism a splitting headache (I can't wear those 3D glasses longer than 10 minutes before I get a headache). I love technology, but I do not like 3D, whether at the movies or at home.
I purchased an Ideapad (V470 I7) and have been very happy with it. I can only think the ThinkPad is as good or better. I certainly do not consider it a failed product.
@gschuber I believe the inclusion is meant to highlight that ultrabooks seem to be the CES trend this time around, and time will tell if they prove successful or not, not that they are already a failed product.

3D TV's didn't take off because they're a goofy gimmick, not because of the glasses. I've never heard somebody say "oh, that's a good movie, but I wish it was in 3D".

3D didn't catch on for 2 reasons. Too many people wear glasses already and didn't want to wear 2 pairs at once. And 3D only lasts for a few minutes before the brain corrects the image in any case.

3D tv is about the lamest inclusion to television and movies for consumer use. The market should still be focusing on better LED and LCD technologies for picture QUALITY. Neither meets the expectations for true home theater use as projectors and plasma technologies offer much truer colors and sharper images.
