Firefox to change its look--again

Mozilla's plans for Firefox involve more than a redeco, but the new design--code-named Australis--will be the most apparent of the browser's changes. Sites that are open in tabs but in the background will merge more seamlessly with the browser window itself. Pinned tabs will also melt into the background. To the right of the location bar, the download manager will be visible when downloading and Firefox options will reside behind a Chrome-style gear icon.

I have this browser as an alternate already! It's called Chrome by some and Chromium by others!!! Google should sue for stealing their browser interface!

I have been a Firefox user for I don't know for how long. What ever they plan on doing is great with me. With all the changes they have made over the years has done nothing except making Firefox better.

It is super hard to keep up with Firefox. I'm one to stay with the familiar. Now after getting used to the orange tab hiding things they are spread out all over. I don't like it.

I loved Firefox in the past but these constant updates are now causing add-ons to no longer be compatible..... add-ons being one of the main reasons I loved Firefox. I hope that they also tweak the speed.... it is starting to get bogged down as well, almost as bad as IE now.

I used to use Firefox but...

On my older XP machines, which are not going away, the New Chrome is much faster.

On my W7, IE rules as most compatible across the board, and it's speed is comparable to Chrome..

Firefox is not even on my computers anymore....

My how things change...

I've had no problem with the looks and will stay a FF fan; however, I get a bit irritated when the first version of any major change cause some of my software to "act up," or you have to got to extra trouble to re-open FF after having just run it, or computer telling me that my ISP isn't working (when all I have to do is restart my computer. This happens too much on new versions, sort of like Microsoft, who just want to get a product on the market, then tweek it later.

Start up / close down
colin_20001@... 13th Feb
FF becomes bigger & bigger, but takes longer & longer to start up and even close down.

It is past time that control is passed back to the user. We want quick start up so that we can decide what we want to do & when. The non safety related addon's can continue loading in the back ground. Even more when we want to close FF then we should not have to wait before eg being able to continue a process that requires FF closed.

Maybe Google has understood this????? !!!!! A customer lost is rarely recovered.

Yes and with the Google phone home scenario Google has lost me for good. Should FF disappear then I for one will go back to IE. I have NOTHING Google on any of my 3 computers. A rattlesnake is much more trustworthy than Google. At least a rattlesnake warns before striking!! Okay people let the flames come forth! This is my opinion and I'm sticking to it (Guaranteed by the Constitution!!). So don't waste your keystrokes lest your Google phones home on you! Ha, Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROFLMAO

Newer Firefox Releases....
jeff.hochberg@... 13th Feb
Between Firefox 3.6 and today, I still cannot tell what they have added. They seem to have done little more than slap a new version number under Help -> About and that's the extent of it. Now with this facelift they're going to make their browser look like Chrome? Firefox is so yesterday in my book....

I absolutely hate it. The menu in the top-left made more sense as that has access to one of the screen's four magic pixels. The interface also looks like a cluttered mess. It seems that Mac fanatics have taken over the Firefox UI design and Windows/KDE has been an afterthought.

It's the most rapid browser. With firebug I can do all my web developer work. I can't imagine myself developing without it. Thanks!

Menus
YetAnotherBob 14th Feb
Having the menus on top is one of the main reasons I like Firefox much more than Chrome. IE is getting 'ribbonified', Chrome has a 'phone home' mania.

I don't see the menus here. I use the menus A LOT in Firefox. Where are they?

Firefox is quickly becoming IE. These constant updates and addon incompatibilities have pushed me to Chrome, which while not perfect, is what FF used to be- fast.

Opera...easily shoots up through the middle for an all out win! America has lost sight of good engineering. Simplify, simplify, simplify!...
Like the complex TV HD box remote with 52 buttons...most of which you don't want to touch, Browsers, FF, IE, Chrome and Safari are platforms for those who have nothing better to do than show you THEIR pet trick functions. Enough allready!
Like Microsoft, who expect you to dump all your programs and buy new for their new Windows 8 - 64 platform, The gall is getting too much to tolerate.
This is the ideal opportunity time for an open code platform operating system to take over and free us from the money grabbing traits of MS windows. The coming change from Win7 to Win8 will be long and painful.

Enough already!

I remember when Firefox would launch quickly and just browse Web pages - with long periods of time between version updates.

These version number changes every six weeks are ridiculous.
