I installed it, ran it for a while, then went back to FF 3. Too many changes I didn't like (like no status bar) and no way to get back to the UI I was used to.

    • same here

@lee@... lots of stupid stuff, like the noscript menu is totally upside-down. The icon used to be at lower right, and items were "up" the menu. Not it's in the upper left (where forward/back/home used to be) and the menu drops down, with the order of items reversed.

Did Microsoft take over mozilla? Seems a lot of "different" for the sake of different.

I can see speeding things up behind the scenes, revamping some tools, but why alter the logic of the layout so drastically?

It just felt like I was missing a lot of things. The status bar for one, a bum move as far as I'm concerned.

  • I like

I happen to like the sparser environment. I thought I'd miss the status bar, but I just now had to look to notice that it wasn't there. IE9 is going this same way. The mentality is changing from a "web browser" to an "application portal." With that paradigm shift, means the browser needs to become more invisible as it's the app that's the most important.

@QuimaxW Nonsense. Removing a feature that gave me information I use is a dumb idea. Have it turned off by default, hide it til you mouse over, or whatever. Taking power away is not an improvement. And I don't like IE9 either.

Add-on Bar replaces much of the functionality of the status bar.

Here's a link for those status bar addicts;https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
I just don't understand why anyone with a 15" or even a 17" screen would want to have less real estate?Their isn't that much information on the status bar one couldn't live with out,IMHO.
I'm running Firefox 4 for my main browser, again IMHO I like it.

I am very pleased that the status bar has been removed even with my 23" screen. That wasn't very important informationt to surf only on Internet. The address of the links are indicated in the Wonderful bar and the advancement of the page loading of is placed in the top tabs

  • Why no shots with window maximized

If you maximize the window, the tabs are moved up into the title bar (like they are in Chrome and Opera), saving even more screen space. Really well-researched piece...

Though look and feel of Firefox 4 is much better than firefox 3, I am still waiting for the addons update for FF4. Till then its going to be FireFox 3.
