Next up, I could have skipped William Howard Taft and brought you to Woodrow Wilson. After all, Wilson helped found the League of Nations (and was from New Jersey, to boot). But instead, I selected William Howard Taft, another full-bodied president. Now, why did I select him for this august gallery, you ask? Hah! It seems Taft is one of the people credited for originating the 7th inning stretch. And you know what that means, don't you? Yep, a baseball app. MLB.com at Bat 11 is a pretty decent app (especially since it's free), with an absolutely terrible name. Kind of like William Howard Taft.
Let's skip forward again to FDR, the president who presided over World War II, and the only president to serve four terms (a fact that has kept William Jefferson Clinton burning with jealousy all these long years). In any case, when you think World War II, you think Captain America. And so, lining Stan Lee's pockets once again, I present to you the Captain America Android app. I loved the movie, but I doubt this thing's much good. That said, it's only $2.99, which is considerably less than it cost to fight World War II.
Harry Truman is known for many things, but one of the more indelible images is the photo of him holding up a copy of the Chicago Tribune with the headline "Dewey Defeats Truman". In honor of the Tribune's famous mistake, and as a nod towards trying to help print newspapers stay in business in these modern times, I bring you the Chicago Tribune iPhone app.
