Hands-on with the Verizon 4G LTE LG VL600 USB modem

Hands-on with the Verizon 4G LTE LG VL600 USB modem

Summary: Verizon rolled out their 4G LTE network on 5 December 2010 and there are two USB modems available for you to choose from. The speeds currently being experienced on LTE are phenomenal and no other wireless network comes close. In fact, many home wired Internet connections cannot achieve the speeds being experienced on LTE.

  • Speed test screenshot?

        @StoneSatellite

Me 3!!! Give us an idea of what your definition of "phenomenal" means, since I'm sure that my idea of "phenomenal" has a higher MBPS rate.

  • Flip-up lid could be a problem if it flips down

    Picture 7: If that flip-up cap has to flip in that direction, then it will be a pain on some systems (catching hands etc.) especially if the USB ports are upside down, as they are on some laptops - then the lid flips down and ?lifts the laptop off the table.

  • Does this thing need \Autorun.inf to work?

    The original 3G modems seen here, relied on being to Autorun via \Autorun.inf in order to work - which has always been a bad idea for arbitrary writable storage devices.

    Has that nonsense gone away?
