HTC ThunderBolt Teardown

Summary: Bill Detwiler cracks open the HTC ThunberBolt. Verizon’s first 4G LTE smartphone has chips from Qualcomm, Broadcom, SanDisk, Micron, and Atmel.

The 3.5mm headphone jack, notification LED, and a small, brass-colored sensor are soldered to the HTC ThunderBolt's main PCB. The sensor looks nearly identical to the microphone mounted along the bottom edge of the main PCB. I assume this sensor is also a microphone.

    after three days i returned for refund. too sensitive. too easy to activate/de-activate due to side buttons. nice screen.

      @fpkroon2@... <br>Too bad - I put on a case cover and it's perfect - It's a "hummer". Works so good, I don't need a tablet. It's faster than my desktop!!

      @fpkroon2@... "too easy to activate/de-activate due to side buttons." ??? The only side button on the Thunderbolt is the volume control? How does that activate or de-activate anything? Obviously you didn't own a ThunderBolt by HTC. If you did, you wouldn't return it. It's as fast as my new laptop with Cable. 290,000 free ringtones. More free aps than you can possibly view in a single day. With the extended battery I only recharge once every 5 or 6 days.

    I love my Thunderbolt. I've had Samsungs and Motorolas and I think HTC is the best. I does everything exactly the way I want it to. I just wish they'd get 4g here.

    I've had my ThunderBolt since they were introduced, in Little Rock. I have had many smart phones, but this one takes the cake. The best of the best--I love it.
