1. Online paywalled news subscription
Product: Online paywalled news subscription
Main downfall: Pay to access widely reported free news? Pah.
Reason to avoid: There really is no point in getting news somewhere through a paid, subscription and paywalled service when you can get it elsewhere. Really. I know some people are clingy to their news sources, just as I am, but I would never pay money to essentially fund my own views and opinions from news I can get elsewhere, impartially and written with at least a shred of decency. I'm talking about you, News Corporation.

But I have questions on how you mentioned about using a media extender to watch video on TV from computer. First, how well the resolution must be for the video to be able to show up clearly on TV? Second, my cousin told me you need a very good video card installed on computer to sustain such work. So, is it possible to get a well enough video card without costing a fortune?
Anything made by apple
I also noticed that the iPod Nano was one of "The Chosen". Since I already purchased a "Black Friday" pink Nano and pink Nano watch wrist band for a very special eleven year old niece, it might be somewhat disingenuous of me if I were to congratulate you on a fine recommendation. If the Nano becomes THE HOT gadget gift item this year, it would be rather ironic considering all the non enthusiastic blog reviews it received upon its introduction.
Although it "pains" me that you kept the iPad off your buy list, I can understand that choice considering its initial cost and that its successor (rumored to be substantially improved) is only a few short months away from availability.
One item that you did not include on your buy list (and an item that is listed in Amazon's top twenty gadgets) is the Apple TV gen 2.
Since the gen 2 Apple TV can be utilized in viewing all downloaded iTunes U video podcasts (in addition to playing audio podcasts) over a home entertainment system, it might be used to enhance your generation's learning environment. (By the way, I just verified the fact that an iTunes U video podcast can be streamed from a PC to a home entertainment system via an Apple TV gen 2.)
Finally, I noticed that you did not mention any Google TV items .. whether the various Sony TV units or any external Google TV setup boxes .. in either of your lists. Since I noticed that, across the pond, all the major network media distributors have blocked Google TV content from being shown, I would suggest that consumers hold off purchasing this item for the time being.
And you're right about Google TV - an obvious reason why I kept it off the list
I didn't realized that Apple is doing so bad that are putting scribes to threaten people. You can be sued for this statement, you do realize that?
Socially awkward? I don't think so. I am laughing all the way to the bank. Of course, people make poor financial decisions everyday in the US anyway. I suppose that is how people are losing their houses to foreclosure.
Will your next message be "you should smoke and do drugs, because alot of teenagers do it and it would be socialy awkward if you didn't?".
That's a idiotic statement no matter what you apply it to.
Get what works best for you, not because other people are doing something different.
Maybe you should just start calling yourself Generation Stupid ?
"Turn it off during the night? Yeah, if you want your beer to go cold."
And there you were, complaining about its poor energy efficiency! If every fridge worked that way, we'd cut the country's energy usage in half!
Please tell me that's a joke.
