Images: Google moves onto the desktop

Google rolls out a beta version of its desktop search software which promises to give the user more options.

Sidebar plays a prominent role in Google's new beta search tool, Google Desktop Search. The tool provides customizable, at-a-glance access to several different categories including e-mail, news and a scratch pad.

Quick Find

With Google's Quick Find, users will be able to launch applications by typing words into the search box and selecting the desired program. The tool will search the Web by default but can also search your own preferences.

Outlook Bar

Google Desktop adds a toolbar into Outlook that gives you another way to search Microsoft's e-mail tool.
