Microsoft buying Yahoo? After months of rumors, it looks like it might actually happen--if Microsoft gets its way. For nostalgia's sake, here's a look back at Yahoo and Microsoft's MSN over the years in light of their (possible) impending merger.

A free custom start page? The novelty! Here's Microsoft's MSN.com from October 22, 1996, courtesy of the Internet Archive. There's not a whole lot going on there, but hey, what would you expect in a primitive age when the average Internet user probably was still using 14.4 kilobits per second dial-up?
