• Cheeky China company suing Google over name

More trouble for Google? This company is taking such a beating lately they don't know whether they are coming or going. And if you hear their leaders speak you can tell just how bad of shape the company is in. Crash and burn, Google!

• if thats crashing and burning...

I would want to be just like them. $551.00 a share, yeah, let me crash and burn anyday. You sir are a dimwhit.

• What does stock price have to do with it???

ENRON had a great stock price when it crashed. If you measure a companies success by its current stock price alone you are misguided. Stock price (especially Googles) is driven by stock buyers not by any real new technology the company has created over the last few years; and definitely by their not-so-eloquent leaders. They, like Yahoo and MSN are at a standstill as to what to do next with their technology. The consumer has not decided yet what they really want to do, hence, Google is in a trial and error period and failing miserably. Expect their stock price to drop soon. Do a Put option and save some money.

• they must be doing something then

as their stock rose just another 5.50 today, so they are doing something that keeps the attention of those stock buyers. Their stock did drop once, and within a week jumped right back up and then doubled what they lost the week after. Every week a new implementation of google, and yet you think they are at a standstill? I don't know what you're reading about them but apparently investors and tech sector seem to know something you are lacking. They are selling services hand over fist and you come at me with your tripe about a standstill. I guess people who purchase large quantities of stock at over 500 a share must not know any better, they are just trying to inflate their stock, I see. You keep telling yourself that andre.

• Actually too many time...

"You must not read my posts often." - and we generally regret the waste of time and bandwidth your ignorant posts waste. ]:)

• no, i've stopped reading most of your posts

as they are completely worthless and a waste of time. Not once have you said anything intelligent, and not once have you provided facts. You are worthless, plain and simple.
Monkey_MCSE
• Then you haven't read them

as they are intelligent and full of facts. Don't you find it funny that you say you stopped reading my posts yet you still respond to them? Guess you do read them. Its cool, I don't blame you as I like to read my posts too.
Loverock Davidson
• i make sure to keep track

of your BS loverock, so when you are completely full of crap I can smack you down like normal. I wish it were harder to do, but your ignorance makes it so easy. You're simply a pathetic twit who thinks he posts facts yet has no clue what facts are, rather you decide your opinions are the facts. You enjoy your bliss, as they say, ignorance is just that.
Monkey_MCSE
• You call this intelligent?

Tee hee hee, I can be funny too! LOLZOMGZ!

I would hardly call that intelligent response to a fellow poster. And where are the facts? What facts have you ever stated? The only "fact" you have stated is something about office toys, deflated balloons, burning through cash... oh wait, those aren't facts! They're pure speculation! What a novel idea; Loverock is full of it, can dish it out but can't take it, and is the only balloon of hot air that seems to be quickly deflating.

That, Loverock, is an intelligent response.

• Obvious troll

No facts seem to present at all. Nothing to back up ones position. Just hopes and guesses.

Much the same as the Microsoft bashers. They make wild guess about the future in the hope that the future will not contain Microsoft. As usual year after year they are proved wrong. It will be the same with Google. The only thing I see sinking either Google or Microsoft is criminal accounting practices. If that ever occurs they will die. I don't see that happening for either but then did we see it coming with Enron, Worldcom, or Nortel? It's possible I suppose but then again so is me wining the lottery and quiting work.

• Acct/Finance 101

Ok...I am not trying to call anyone names or start a ruckus, but I think there has been a great deal of obfuscation of the real questions at hand and ad hominem arguments thrown together in place of substantive discussion...

With regard to stock price, it is simply the present value of all ANTICIPATED future dividends, supposedly. This means that even if Google were to never make a penny, that people BELIEVE they will...this is how many American iconic companies have been able to "weather the storm" through the good and bad.

Now, the argument that lawsuits will kill the stock price...there is absolutely no basis for that whatsoever. An accounting charge due to a lawsuit is viewed rarely viewed by Wall Street as a harbinger of bad things to come, which is the only factor in stock price...it is based on people's belief about the future. In fact, from a purely accounting side, a big lawsuit is actually a good thing from time to time...companies use periods of low revenue or losses to charge off big losses. The logic here is that if earnings aren't going to meet anticipated earnings by a small margin, it's no different than to be "off" by a large margin. It's called "taking a bath" or a "big bath" and it is a healthy process for a large corporation to go through it.

Just throwing in my accounting perspective...cash is dead and thinking about business in terms of "costs" is as antiquated as a rotary phone...we have to tihnk in terms of accounting, finance, Wall Street, etc. if we are to pose sound arguments about businesses and stock price and the such.

~my 2 cents...

• Hmmm Sounds Familiar

It does, some 20 years ago on a Tech BBS the same argument was being spouted about Microsoft. Were people idiots for investing in Microsoft in in 1987?
