  • Here you can see one of the main characters Tom Shayes at a computer in his office. What you may not be aware is the situation he is in; he's lost his entire life savings and needs to sell a few items to claw back to settle his finances.

    (c) Fox, 2010. Broadcast on Fox, 10pm. Screenshot taken from 720p broadcast, season 3 episode 12.

  • Oh look at that, a Windows logo; not only on the desktop but there's clearly some branding on the laptop screen edge. Is that a Sony machine? Of course it is, but that's only because the programme is also a production of Sony Pictures TV.

    (c) Fox, 2010. Broadcast on Fox, 10pm. Screenshot taken from 720p broadcast, season 3 episode 12.

  • Is that Internet Explorer 8 he is using? Of course it is! However from start to finish of this scene where he uses Internet Explorer 8, is funnily enough 8 seconds long as part of their commercial advertising branding.

  • Apple iPad episode of Modern Family on ABC?

Is this really any different than the Apple iPad that was so prominently figured in the ENTIRE episode?

    Why highlight Microsoft only?

I'd argue that Apple is much like the Microsoft of the late 90's, early 2000's (A bully, very closed ecosystem, anti-competitive.)

    who cares....Sheesh.

    Apple innovates, Microsoft imitates.

    • And fanbois blather

Sooooo, have you ever complined about and apple machine being worked into a shot in some unnatural way in a show? Or Coke, or Nikon or any other kind of blatant product placement, I'll bet not.

A least the sleazy and factually incorrect ' I'm a mac' ads will soon be history.

@ator1940 - Further to Oreamnos_americanus' comments, can you please articulate where you believe Apple have "innovated" ... other than in marketing hyperbole?

There is nothing shameless about it. If you have ever gone to a movie and waited for the credits to appear on the screen you will see a whole lot of credits under sponsored by. In most cases one would see names of auto manufacturers most prominent of this lot is Ford but there are others also. You see ordinary police personnel in UK driving around in BMWs and Lexuses which in my opinion is highly improbable.

Apple has been at it for quite a while now. In many American TV shows one sees top of am apple laptop very prominently visible when in real situations in 9 out 10 cases it would be a windows based laptop - a non Apple product.
