Just In
2007 too . . .
I don't know how you think this is a new
feature; the ability to hide the ribbon has
always been there.
Try double clicking a tab in the ribbon in
Office 2007.
It's never not existed - it's just been made
more visible via that little arrow.
"Word, thankfully, has barely changed."
The ribbon was a one time event to try to solve
a certain problem. Since the ribbon does a
great job at solving that problem, there's no
more real need to overhaul the UI again.
"As with all other Office 2010 applications,
you can insert screenshots there and then."
Let's say your business wants to use some new
software, and needs to train employees. A
presentation of the new UI is a good start.
One of my previous employers had a Shoretel VoIP system, very nice. Integrated Outlook dialing was a very handy and time saving feature.
Someone sends me a VCard, wham bam, I can call them, fax them, email them in an instant. Outlook with and integrated phone system is smooth as butter.
I'd like to be able to customize it more so, but overall it has become a very desirable upgrade for me.
That being said, I do agree that the classic toolbars should be an option, for many that just works better.
