Dell unveils its own mini-player, the DJ Ditty, to grab sales from the iPod Shuffle.

Dell's answer to the iPod Shuffle

With its $99 DJ Ditty, unveiled in September 2005, Dell is taking aim at the popular iPod Shuffle. It has 512MB of storage, which the company says translates to as many as 220 songs.

The Dell device has a 1-inch LCD screen and an FM tuner. Its dimensions: 3.6 inches by 1.1 inches by 0.5 inch; weight is 1.29 ounces.

Apple Computer's iPod Shuffle, which debuted in January 2005, also comes in a 512MB version priced at $99, as well as a 1GB model priced at $129. By Apple's count, the two devices hold 120 and 240 songs, respectively.
