Competitors arrived before dawn on Oct. 8 to get start of the second annual Darpa Grand Challenge, a robot race in Primm Valley, Nev. Driverless cars raced across the Mojave Desert and other obstacles to attempt to win the $2 million prize money. The winner would have to finish 131.6 mile course with the fastest time--under 10 hours.
