Researchers for environmental group World Wildlife Fund claim they may have discovered a new species of carnivore in the rainforests of Borneo. The animal, which is slightly bigger than a cat, was photographed twice by a camera trap at night.

While researchers believe this is a new species, a final determination cannot be made until one is captured. Some think it could be a new species of marten or civet cat.

The WWF is protesting a plan by the Indonesian government to create the world's largest palm oil plantation in the area, planned to be half the size of the Netherlands. They say it would have a devastating impact on the region.
