From the home of the Indy 500, Indiana's Robotic Vehicle or IRV, was built by the "offspring" of IndyRobotics LLC and the Indy Robot Racing Team.
Here's an example from the 2004 race of the nasty terrain that the entrants had to encounter. The 150-mile course for this year's event will be held somewhere in the desert in the southwestern United States. The exact course will not be revealed until two hours before the race.
Hills and turns like this were the main obstacles in the 2004 race in which no team finished.
