The new optional "Today" screen

The new Today screen will rival that of its Windows Mobile counterpart. With three sections at the moment - one for messages (email and text messages), missed calls and upcoming calendar entries - it is easier to keep track of what is going on in the here, now and present rather than the past.

For features which have been found in this leaked new operating system, head over to the article on the iGeneration blog.

RE: Try before you apply settings (Screenshots: Leaked upcoming BlackBerry OS )

As an ex-employee with VZW I sold many-a-Blackberrys but never owned one while I worked at the company. I purchased a Storm a year ago and it has been a major disappointment. I am just waiting for Verizon Wireless to get the iPhone. If they don't I will wait till my contract is over and get dreaded AT&T coverage and an iPhone to boot. RIM is not at the forefront, Google and Apple are.

RIM just dosen't get consumers
mjp1972@... 17th Aug 2009
I have one of the original BB Pearls (8100). At the time I thought it was the best smartphone on the market, that's why I purchased it. I have been watching RIM to see what they do and I even get excited about what they may come up with next. However, after seeing the Storm fizzle and flop, and the new Storm 2 video, and now the new OS; I have come to believe that RIM just doesn't get the consumer market. Apple did set the bar for the consumer smart phone. Now we see Samsung, Google, and even Microsoft trying to pass the bar. Yet RIM is so focused on the corporate market and trying to get it's corporate phone model to attract the average consumer that they don't appear to ask, "What does the consumer want?", or "How are the consumers using their phones?" Time and time again I have been disappointed by the new Blackberries, not the quality of the phone, but the quality of the experience. I don't like Apple dictating to me how to use my phone or what carrier I can use. That's a trend I wish would stop. But now I am left finding another OS that is at least trying to understand that I am not a company.

Still outdated...

Underneight, it's still an outdated Java Engine processor. Slow, cumbersome and very old. No matter how pretty they make it, you'll still wait and wait and wait to accomplish things that an Windows Mobile or iPhone will do in seconds.
ain't nothing like a blackberry, might have problems like memory leaks etc.these will be solved in upcoming os,I can never go back to a normal phone

Blackberry OS on a Blackberry Storm
BRYCOMTEC 24th Aug 2009
Yea I just tried the new blackberry os on my Storm 9530 and found it to be slow and buggy.
I must have come across 20 java errors while running this os.
I know it?s not a stable release yet but I was still expecting an improvement on performance and speed of the java apps...

I was highly disappointed
