Just because IE 7doesn't support PNG transparency doesn't mean PNG is in it's "internet infancy" it just means IE 7 sucks just as much as IE 6 did.

Long live the PNG.

I guess you just like crapped out screen shots. Show me the browser that can't render .png in this day and age, and I'll suggest you upgrade that browser.

In short - use jpgs for photos or gradient-heavy art. Use gif or png for screen grabs.

there you have it.

Turns out this crapped out Linux package doesn't support .png files.

I'll be darned.

Ungrateful!

Someone goes to the trouble of posting a whole gallery of screenshots and all you can do is take them apart on the file format? You are too spoilt by the wealth of the internet, my friend...

welcome to the broadband community.
you can remove the search yourself by right clicking the start button in taskbar and go to properties then customize, uncheck search. As a tip you might want to checkmark "run" and "printers" so they will show up in the start menu.
you must have run out of Apple stuff to suck up to - what a waste of bandwidth, pictures of progress bars!!

I mean it's bad enough that you still have to explicitly defragment disks
in Vista, but are you saying that it didn't previously have a way to only
defragment one volume????

Holy Mother of Norton.

Well....
mikeholli 25th Sep 2007
Well, what did you EXPECT??? It's disk defragmenter, scandisk, disk cleanup, system restore all were created by Symantec aka Nortons way back in Windows95a days and above. and still to this day, remain pretty much the same. "Additional info PC Magazine Feb 1996"

This *I* like!

Going thru the gallery I came across the upgrade with Vista SP1 where you can *NOW* (without any special software outside of MS Windows itself) create your own restore disc. I dunno about the rest of you, but this nifty little Service Pack feature does something that us, the end users should of had the ability to do way back in Windows 95A. I'm sure the others here that work on PCs are just about as tired of the mundane task of going thru setting, sorting directories, creating scripts, etc to create a restore CD/DVD for our customers. THANK-YOU MICROSOFT AND BILL GATES for giving us something finally WE really can use and needed.

Not a traditional Recovery Disc
bobiroc 26th Sep 2007
From what I have read (and I could be wrong) this is not a restore disc in the sense you can build a machine and create a restore disc set like you would get with an OEM manufacturer. It is basically gonna put a set of tools on the disc that can be used to restore the computer back to factory settings.

Anyone else?
dragosani 26th Sep 2007
Does anyone else feel that SP1 for Vista isn't really a Service Pack at all?

It is more like "OK, businesses, SP1 is going to be out soon so start buying!"

I don't think businesses are going to pick up Vista just because of SP1 unless it really fixes concerns and problems.

Here is looking forward to SP2.

40 minutes and 4 reboots for what exactly?
What am I missing here? Hopefully there are some performance inprovements, getting a little tired of that spinning doughnut.
Well first off I have to say that I am not a big fan of Vista in its present form. I understand the politics behind competition at the expense of consumers and I believe it will take a lot more than MS?s shallow attempt?SP1 to restore your average PC users confidence and?. Wait there?s someone at the door, Oh no it?s the Micro Soft police and there upset because I have spoken against there divine power. No sorry it?s just some kids looking for sponsors. Now where was I?.
Bottom line, it?s a new OS with more bugs then it?s older sister XP. Give up the eye candy for practicality please. I really don?t need to spend extra time finding drivers for my old technology (A very expensive laser printer made in 2002) just to get a run around and bombarded with ads ?perhaps it?s time to upgrade your printer? crap. But of course it seems that Vista has the philosophy, it?s cheaper to bye a new printer (cartridge included) than it is to bye a new printer cartridge. MS is making profit on our bigger and better ideologies , Ah the power of marketing.

usarcomputertec 1st Oct 2007
Yes I want to get Windows Vista with SP1 so that I can avoid the Virus Microsoft put out for XP Pro discussed here http://nixedblog.thenixedreport.com/?p=82 just like you want and I need to get the new Halo 3 game and others since Microsoft put out that XBOX 360 update that made it so my old games would not work any more. Please Microsoft I need your new Crap since you sabotaged your old CRAP.
