Try Graphic Converter on your Mac. I assume you use both Windows and Mac?
I like the black background on iphoto but I use windows live photo gallery. It is just ok. I think even with the ribbon menu it seems a little clunky getting around in it as well as the facial recognition.

Noticed how you constantly have to access the menu in iPhoto while Window Live Photo has easy one-click access to almost everything through the ribbon UI.

@techblogger:
Image 15, notice the RED X in the lower right of the window and the upper right of the window and even an X below the ribbon to the left? Why 3 sets of deletes? The 2 arrows in the lower right of the window and the LARGE arrows in the upper left of the window? Why 2 sets of Previous and Next? The 2 flip image symbols in the lower right of the window and the upper left of the window? Why 2 sets of flip images? Why 2 sets of rating stars. Image 6, 3 sets of image stars; 2 sets of zooms; 2 sets of dates; 2 slide shows... 2 MUCH!!

Almost everything in the ribbon? Geeze! Almost everything's everyplace else too! At lest I can see and know the tools that I need are in the same general place every time without the fear of making a clicking mistake searching.

Honestly? There's not enough of a different between the UIs to matter.

I'll take the functionality of Ribbon over the shallow iPhoto that's made to be more visually appealing . Considering Office uses it and is the #1 selling piece of software every year...ill have to assume most agree with me.
