Female entrepreneurs still find it harder to score venture capital than their male peers, but they are steering product and business strategies at some of the industry's most powerful companies.

Carole Bartz: Say what you will about her strategy as Yahoo! CEO, this the third company where she has made a difference (after Autodesk and Sun).

I have a granddaughter who just graduated from Cornell in electrical engineering. She is yet to find a job despite many applications, resumes, interviews and other contacts. You talk the talk now lets get some more young ladies in to walk the walk. You and industry says she is needed. Show it!!!

I have a Masters in Telecommunications Management from the UK and still finding to challenging to secure the job spec that matches my 9 year experience and qualification. I have lost many jobs to men and continue to struggle with my male competitor. WHAT ARE THE CEO WOMEN DOING TO BRIDGE THIS GAP?

Sorry, but here in the US this gap won't be truly shortened until we get more female engineers in the world. Women have made great strides in the field of business (as many of the women shown in this article), but not in tech/engineering. My engineering school was a 5-1 male/female ratio (not uncommon) and in the real world it is much lower. I serve over 4000 engineering customers in southern california alone and could count the number of female electrical engineers I've encountered on ONE hand. Truly staggering. And, I'm sorry, but most large employers will go out of their way to hire female engineers. We look desperately for them! Those - with experience - don't seem to exist. They go into something else - like sales (not a bad thing, just not engineering).
Step it up ladies! To the ones asking how to bridge the gap? Do it! Make your own busineess! Don't stand around asking why you don't have a job. If you really think you're not getting a job with 10 years of experience because of your gender you've got another think coming!

What you meant to say was that Ursula Burns was hand-picked by her "predecessor", Anne Mulcahy.
