Benhamou, chief executive of Palm from 2001 to 2003, is currently the chairman and chief executive of Benhamou Global Ventures, which provides investment for technology start-ups.

Finjan claims that Benhamou's tech-management experience (he was also chief executive of 3Com Corporation from 1990 to 2000) will help the 10-year-old company as it grows. The company professes to be a specialist in protecting businesses from online malware and scams such as spyware, phishing and Trojans.

Companies are now more likely to pick up malicious software via employee Web surfing than from the more notorious email attachment, according to a study released by IDC.
