Hands-on with the HTC One X and One S
HTC announced their new 2012 lineup at Mobile World Congress with a focus on the One series. The One X and One S arrived for me to check out for a bit and all I can say is that I can't wait for the HTC One S to launch on T-Mobile USA.
Check out my ZDNet Smartphones & Cell Phones blog post for more thoughts on using these two super smartphones over the past week.
As you can see the One S is narrower than the One X.
There are two color schemes for the HTC One S and as you can see back of this model has a slick gray shading effect. It feels wonderful in the hand with the metal back and solid form factor.
The HTC One S has an 8 megapixel camera with a colorful blue ring around the lens. The flash is to the right of the camera lens.
The top of the HTC One S shows the power button, 3.5mm headset jack, and opening used to pry off the top for access to the microSIM card slot.
The volume button is found on the upper right of the HTC One S.
The microUSB port is found on the left side of the One S.
Beats Audio branding is found on the bottom back of the One S. There is a mono speaker below this branding.
The HTC One S front has a cool design where the glass transitions into plastic that runs along the sides above the aluminum frame.
The glass is not curved, but gives you the impression it is with the metal frame angled along the sides.
There are three capacitive buttons along the bottom of the HTC One S.
The indicator light, headset speaker, front facing camera and HTC branding are found above the display on the top.
The HTC One S feels fantastic in your hand and the design alone has me wanting one.
The 8 megapixel camera on the back of the HTC One X protrudes out from the back.
The back of the HTC One X has a matte white finish and looks great.
The Beats Audio branding is found on the back in familiar red.
You can find dock connection ports on the back lower right of the HTC One X.
The microSIM card slot, power button, and 3.5mm headset jack are found on the top of the HTC One X.
The microUSB port is found on the upper left of the One X.
The volume button is found on the right and as you can see the glass is surrounded by the same plastic as the One S.
There are three touch capacitive buttons below the display on the HTC One X.
The indicator light, front facing camera, and headset speaker are found above the display.
The HTC One X has a 4.7 inch display, but the thinness and minimal frame around the display makes it feel reasonable in your hand.
These three devices all run Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
I took this picture on Easter weekend with the HTC One X and as you can see my wife's cousin can fly on the trampoline.
We took this family photo with the HTC One X during Easter.
I took this sample photo at the Sounders Women's game with the HTC One S. You may be able to see Hope Solo over on the right side of this photo.
