HTC Advantage X7501

The HTC Advantage X7501 was just made available at U.S. retailers like CompUSA and Amazon starting at US$850. This Windows Mobile 6 Professional device packs in everything, but the kitchen sink and after just a couple of hours with the device I found it does many things very well.

The HTC Advantage is packed into an attractive green and black box.

Inside the decorated box is a high quality solid black box.

...reveals the HTC Advantage wrapped securely in plastic in the upper compartment. The keyboard is inserted below it in its own plastic wrapping.

The Advantage, keyboard, and a very nice leather case are all found in the first sub-compartment of the inner black box.

The keyboard attaches to the leather case with very strong magnets and the Advantage slides into some upper brackets.

The keyboard is quite flat, but does have many quick launch buttons. There is also a clear plastic window that does a cool function I will talk about in my follow-up impressions.

You can see the clear window and HTC logo here.

HTC optimized the space in the box and under the Advantage is another sub-compartment.

There are several items included with the Advantage, including an extra stylus, the battery, an A/C adapter, miniUSB cable, and 3.5mm headset jack for making calls and listening to tunes.

You can see those contents better when the plastic has been removed.

A 2200 mAh battery should provide plenty of battery life for this device.

This HTC proprietary cable allows you to display the HTC Advantage on the big screen. Coupled with a full size keyboard and mouse, this can truly be a mobile computer.

Everything is contained behind a single door. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to lift the cover for the SIM card. It is also great that you can extend the 8GB drive with miniSD cards in high capacity.

There is a VERY thick user manual that I'll be sure to peruse to see if there are any hidden features on this powerhouse of a mobile device.
