Image Gallery: Initial hands-on look at the Google Nexus One smartphone

HTC and Google launched the "Google phone" yesterday called the Nexus One. Mine came overnight and is up and running on T-Mobile at this time. The hardware is sleek and the internals are the best we have seen on an Android device. Check out a few unboxing and orientation photos in this preview of the Nexus One.

There was literally no protection for my Nexus One other than the retail box itself.

This is a decent sized battery that will hopefully keep this new Android device powered up for at least a day.

The trackpad is here, but the other buttons are touch sensitive areas for back, menu, home, and search.

It fits very well in my hand and has nice curves and a solid build.

Google and HTC have logos on the back with the top part removable for the battery, SIM card, and microSD card.

The camera has a LED flash to go along with it. The small opening to the right is for the speakerphone.

A microUSB port is used for charging and connecting to a PC. A mic and three leads for noise cancellation are present on the bottom.

A slight modification to my shirt is needed for the Nexus One.
