Google launched a test version of a public transit trip planner called Google Transit. The new mapping tool, which is currently only available for Portland, Ore., can show a user how to get to a bus or subway stop and then maps the most direct route to the destination point.

By adding the approximate time of departure, users will get an updated trip schedule, along with the cost and expected duration. It also gives walking directions to the appropriate stop.
