It's alive? Hanny's Voorwerp: Green glob that grows stars

First discovered by a 24-year-old Dutch school teacher Hanny van Arkel, photos from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope show a strange pocket of green gas, about the size of the Milky Way, where new stars are forming. It's being called Hanny's Voorwerp (Hanny's Object in Dutch). Making the mystery a little more juicy is that we can see the green glob (oxygen) because the galaxy's core produced a quasar, a powerful light beacon powered by a black hole.
