New servers join Dell line
Dell's got new rack and tower servers that feature Intel's new dual-core processors and a screen to indicate when something's awry.

PowerEdge 2950
The new Dell PowerEdge 2950 was introduced Wednesday as the new base of Dell's two-processor server line. It starts at $1,849 with two of Intel's new Xeon 5100 processors, formerly known as Dempsey.

PowerEdge with LCD
All of the new PowerEdge servers introduced by Dell Wednesday come with an LCD screen on the front of the server that can be programmed to display error messages or warning signs, so technicians can diagnose problems right in the server rack.

Blade server
Dell also introduced a blade server with the new dual-core Intel processors. The Xeon 5100 processors consume less power than their Xeon 5000 predecessors, making them more appropriate for the tight confines of a thin blade server.
