Nokia updates Maps, Drive and Transport: In pictures
Nokia Transport, also called Nokia Transit
Nokia has updated its Nokia Maps, Drive and Transport applications for its Lumia family of Windows Phone handsets.
The updated apps, released on Tuesday, bring new features such as speed-limit alerts, and sharing of favourites and other map locations via SMS or social media. Nokia Transport — called Nokia Transit in the US — made its debut in beta form at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona in February.
Nokia Transport provides door-to-door bus, tram, train and underground directions in 510 cities in 46 countries. The public transport service allows people to plan a route between two points in the city. Walking directions are included to and from the start and end points of the journey.
Not all cities include timetable information, but 86 of the 510 do. Nokia said it is still looking to expand the app to more cities and to add more timetable information.
The app is available to download from the Windows Phone Marketplace for free and, like the Drive and Maps updates, it is available for Lumia handsets only. People who participated in the beta will need to uninstall the app and download the full version from the Marketplace.
