Windows views everywhere

At the Microsoft Mix '06 conference, Microsoft executives displayed screenshots of sites using Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere, which promises to bring Windows Vista graphics to other operating systems and different Web browsers.

Here, a Firefox browser displays an animation of a clock, which is a vector image, over the page's background image.

Moving around the image

This image, also shown at the Mix '06 session on WPF/E, is a vector graphic in a Firefox browser. Users can zoom, rotate and pan the image, which was converted from an Adobe Illustrator image.

Code editor

The Microsoft software will include an editor called WPF/E Pad for writing XAML, a new language scheduled for release with Windows Vista. Designers construct a page layout and graphical elements, and the editor generates the XAML code, which can be "read" by Microsoft's Visual Studio tools.
