SMH Good Food Guide

Price: Free for ten reviews, then a 12-month subscription for $9.49, six months for $6.49 and one month for $2.99.
Platform: iOS (iPhone)

This is the app that tells you where to go out to eat, with tons of reviews. Unfortunately, although some people would have felt excited at seeing that the Good Food Guide was free, only 10 reviews are included at no cost. After that, users have to subscribe for a certain amount of time, with content rolling over so that users get the newest reviews. The app doesn't need an internet connection to browse, making it fast, but also a hefty download at 20MB. Users can reserve a table with the app, and can also find out which restaurants are near them, using the "Around Me" function. The Age's similar app is also available here.

Passphraser

Price: Free
Platform: Android

Based on a strip from web comic XKCD, Passphraser is a password generator designed to help you pick randomised secure and hard-to-hack passwords that will be easy for you to remember. Just don't use "correct horse battery staple", because you can bet that there are people who have done that.
