There are always cool new apps coming out, so it's hard to keep up. ZDNet Australia brings you a taste of some of the apps that have surfaced or been updated recently.

Google+

Platform: Android

If you're one of the lucky few who managed to get an invitation for Google+, you can download the Google+ mobile app. The app lets you send messages, put photos and videos into a cloud album, and stay in the loop with what your mates are up to.

Skype

Price: Free
Platform: Android

With this update, you can make and receive free one-to-one video calls over Skype with either Wi-Fi or 3G data connections. Handsets that support video calling include the HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro and the Google Nexus S. Support for more handsets is said to be coming soon.

BlackBerry Travel

Price: Free
Platform: BlackBerry

BlackBerry Travel helps travellers find flights and hotels, automatically push emailed itineraries to the Blackberry, and it also recognises gaps where there is no accommodation. In its newest version it now also has a world clock and car rental booking so you users won't get stuck at the end of a flight without a ride.

goCatch

Price: Free
Platform: iOS (iPhone and iPad)

This app connects taxi drivers and passengers looking for rides. Passengers can see taxis on a map, while taxi drivers see passengers. Passengers hit a button to say they're waiting for a taxi.

Onavo

Price: Free
Platform: iOS (iPhone and iPad)

Onavo compresses data usage from apps so that users get more out of their data plan. Onavo's creators said that users will get the most out of Onavo when they use apps while overseas, but believe it will also provide more bang for buck on home data plans.

QRem

Price: Free
Platform: BlackBerry

QRem converts contacts, calendar events, tasks, URLs, memos, PINs, GPS coordinates, emails and phone numbers to a QR code. When the user shows this QR code, colleagues can then scan the code to receive the contact.

Fuji Xerox Print & Scan Utility (Small Office) for iOS

Price: Free
Platform: iOS (iPhone and iPad)

This is a printing and scanning application that allows web pages, photos, contact information on iPhones, iPads or iPod Touches to be printed from Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CM205 fw, CM205 f, CP205 w and CP205 printers.

vWork

Trade Me founder Sam Morgan has brought this mobile workforce app to Australia. The app schedules and dispatches services to help businesses manage staff on the road. Users can track, schedule and balance jobs across field workers in real time and see assigned jobs using Google Maps.
