The Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (Pikom) amended its constitution at its 20th annual general meeting (AGM) recently.

It has added a president's post to its secretariat setup, which currently consists of a chairman, deputy chairman, secretary, treasurer, and a team of councillors and advisors.

The president will serve as a full-time employee; he will head the management of Pikom and champion its causes.

Unlike the other posts, the president will be hired by the association instead of being elected by its members, to ensure continuity.

The other amendment was to create a new membership category--the Affiliate Member, suitable for startups and the smaller ICT (information and communications technology) companies, including PC hardware stores, that want to join the association.

Affiliate Members will pay only 20 percent of the joining fee imposed on Ordinary Members. However, they will not have the power to vote during AGMs or be elected as council members.
