Protect your iPhone with the G-Form Extreme Grid case

These days most people have a mobile phone with them more than 80 percent of their waking hours. With that much carrying time, it's clear that protecting your mobile phone should be on the top of the list.

When looking for a case for your mobile phone, there are a number of things to think about:

• Is the case just for show, or can it actually protect your phone?
• Does it protect just the back, or is the screen adequately protected?
• Does it make your otherwise slim phone extremely bulky?
• If it does make it bulky, is the bulk worth it?
• Is it cost prohibitive?

In my case, I'm less concerned about looks, and more concerned about protecting my iPhone 4S. With that in mind, I've gone through more than my share of cases from Otterbox, Apple's own Bumper case, and other cases from manufacturers large and small. One thing they all have in common, though, is that they claim to protect my iPhone.

With the above in mind, I've been sporting G-Form's Extreme Grid for iPhone for a couple of months now. If you're not familiar with it, it uses G-Form's Reactive Protection Technology (RPT), which is a "composite blend of Poron XRD material and proprietary materials and technology". G-Form claims that its Extreme Grid case offers dual-layer protection by "combining a tough rigid exterior shell with an inner RPT core that extrudes through the shell to provide 360 degrees worth of extreme impact protection."What that means for you, though, is that it offers a tough exterior that doesn't add much weight to your iPhone. Notice I didn't say bulk? That's because this case is bulky. Well, I should say that it seems bulky to me, though the company calls it "slim and lightweight". Based on my criteria above, though, bulk is worth it if it protects the iPhone.

The best way to test an iPhone case is to drop the iPhone while the case is around it. Of course, if the case fails, then the iPhone breaks, too, so it's not a test that you venture into lightly. That said, I rarely drop my iPhone and as luck would have it, the same day that I first started using the case, I accidentally dropped my iPhone. In this situation I was walking my dog and had pulled my iPhone out of my pocket to make a call. Suddenly, my dog made a sudden move that made me lose the grip on my iPhone. The iPhone, wrapped in the Extreme Grid case, bounced on the pavement below, resting face down. Thankfully, the iPhone was unharmed, including the screen. I literally saw it bounce, so that definitely illustrated the case's ability to protect the iPhone, and the fact that the screen was unharmed shows that a screen protector isn't as necessary if you have a case like the Extreme Grid.

Since the tumble above, I've dropped the case more than a few times, and thankfully, each time it falls, it recovers without a scratch.

In addition, it doubles as a stress reducer, since I find myself squeezing the case in my hand involuntarily.
