Red Hat announced that a former Microsoft executive, Radhesh Balakrishnan, will lead its virtualization efforts. Balakrishnan will oversee Red Hat's OpenStack and enterprise virtualization technologies.
The open source software provider has been layering cloud and virtualization technologies in most of its products such as its Red Hat Enterprise Linux as well as its infrastructure as a service products based on OpenStack.
In a statement, Balakrishnan said he was looking forward to working with Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) initiatives and delivering on the "promise of open hybrid cloud."
Balakrishnan's previous history highlights Red Hat's thinking with its virtualization technology. Simply put, Balakrishnan has the emerging markets chops that'll help Red Hat.
According to Balakrishnan's LinkedIn profile, he drove Microsoft's Azure cloud platform business in Asia Pacific, was director of the software giant's virtualization and private cloud efforts, and acted as chief competitive officer for the company's India unit.
