Researchers have confirmed a direct link between IT pay and organisation size. IT salaries rise in line with employees numbers, according to figures from the activeTechPros benchmarking survey conducted between April and June 2009.

The gap in pay between the largest companies and small businesses with up to 99 staff is most pronounced in IT manager salaries. Annual pay for IT managers in the largest companies is about £12,500 more than their counterparts in smaller organisations — £56,746 at corporates against £44,311 at businesses with up to 99 staff.
