The Sony BDP-S570 has all the features of other midrange Blu-ray players, plus future 3D support and best-in-class operational speed, but its streaming-video performance over Wi-Fi is spotty.

    The Good: Very good Blu-ray image quality; 3D Blu-ray compatible; Netflix, Amazon VOD, Pandora, YouTube, and Slacker media streaming; built-in Wi-Fi; fastest operational speed we've tested; SACD playback; 1GB onboard storage.

    The Bad: Inconsistent streaming-video performance using Wi-Fi; some very minor image quality nitpicks.

    The Bottom Line: The Sony BDP-S570 has all the features of other midrange Blu-ray players, plus future 3D support and best-in-class operational speed, but its streaming-video performance over Wi-Fi is spotty.

Pros:
* Good quality for Blu-ray content
* Compatibility for 3D Blu-ray content coming soon
* Amazon VOD, Slacker, YouTube and Netflix video streaming
* Built in Wi-Fi
* Fast speed for operations
* SACD playback support
* Has one GB on board memory
Cons:
* Netflix quality is lamentable
* Minor issues in image quality
Outcome:
* Lots of its features are ?coming soon? but once they all get unlocked, this will be a good Blu-ray player.

The Sony BDP-S570 earned marks of Very Good almost across the board on our image-dense test films Cars (a computer-animated movie) and The Searchers (a VistaVision classic, with a negative twice the size of standard movie film). In Cars, colour saturation was superb. Two scenes from The Searchers (chapters 4 and 20) looked sharper when played on the BDP-S570 than when played on our reference PlayStation 3; chapter 20 also had a better sense of dimension on the BDP-S570
