The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's top Android devices. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory premium data add-on fee.

The Good: The HTC Evo 4G delivered respectable 4G speeds, and the mobile hot-spot feature lets you connect up to eight devices. The smartphone has a front-facing camera for video chats and also comes with an 8-megapixel camera with HD-video-recording capabilities. The Evo ships with YouTube's HQ video player, Android 2.1 with HTC Sense, and an HDMI port. Other highlights include an extra-large 4.3-inch touch screen and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

The Bad: Sprint's 4G network is limited at this time, making the mandatory $10 premium data add-on tough to swallow for anyone outside of the coverage area. The Evo lacks support for Bluetooth voice-activated dialing. The battery drains quickly with 4G.

The Bottom Line: The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's top Android devices. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory premium data add-on fee.

Review Summary: When I first got my EVO 4G I was thrilled. I've become a big fan of the Android OS and have always held a special place in my heart for any hardware HTC produces. What immediately did not thrill me though was the EVO's battery. In simplest terms, it...

Review Summary: Sprint's marketing campaigns over the past few months have focused on the fact that the carrier was the first to launch a 4G network in the U.S. Building on that, the company has focused on the various things you can do with a 4G connection that...

The Verdict: Sprint may have touted "firsts" when it launched the EVO 4G and its WiMAX network, but the wireless carrier knows that its competition isn't far behind. As a result, Sprint must offer compelling handsets as well as killer speeds to attract users.

Review Summary: We've all been waiting on the official HTC Evo 4G HDMI dock, and that wait is finally over. We now have the official dock with which we can output high-definition video from our phone to our television -- and charge it at the same time

The Verdict: In the 2nd paragraph, you say to plug one end of the HDMI cable into the dock, and the other end into the phone. Do you mean TV? I assume it is a standard HDMI cable judging by the port in the back of the dock

I have owned the Motorola Droid and a Touch Pro 2. I have had hands on with several other smartphones including a lot of time playing on friends iPhones. I am here to tell you this new Evo phone smokes them. It is the hottest fastest most fully featured phone in the world for the moment.

It is the standard bearer to beat. Don't waste your time trying to compare the phone or network with the iPhone or ATT. I have used the all four generations of the iPhone and when comparing the latest iPhone with the Evo 4G there is no match. The Evo 4G is "Heavy weight" material compared to the iPhone 4. In round one the Evo does a TKO on the iPhone. On another note, Sprint's 3G network is far better than ATT's and twice its size. Now couple this with Sprint being the only carrier with a 4G network and ATT's 4G being two year behind Sprint's and you will come to the same conclusion as me.
