A slight bump to the specifications for the same price in addition to a much appreciated option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors' Choice it earned last year when the brushed-aluminum-and-glass design was first introduced.

The Good: A minor specification update results in some significant performance gains; graphics upgrade an option on this 24-inch model; sleek, polished design didn't receive an update, but we won't start clamoring for a new design until the current one is at least 12 months old.

The Bad: Free phone support runs out after 90 days.

The Bottom Line: A slight bump to the specifications for the same price in addition to a much appreciated option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors' Choice it earned last year when the brushed-aluminum-and-glass design was first introduced.

Review Summary: A monster in every sense. A capacious 27-inch screen, paired with slick, slimline design and features to satisfy even the most fastidious tech fancier, the iMac is Apple's crowning glory and the computer for those who want great looks matched with...

The Verdict: It’s hard to argue against the iMac when it comes to desktop PCs. Nothing quite measures up to its great looks and the peerless OS X Snow Leopard, which makes everything so easy to handle. You’ll need to be prepared for your bank balance to take a...

Review Summary: While the new processor upgrade and SDXC card slot breathe new life to the iMac, for its price we expected to see more features such as a Blu-ray drive and an HDMI port.

The Verdict: Apple has elected to keep its iMac firmly grounded as a productivity device. You'll find few home entertainment conveniences in Apple's new iMac, and you can find larger screens in other all-in-ones for less. Few will offer performance like this iMac,...

Review Summary: Apple's latest iMac is a sight to behold. It's the largest all-in-one PC we've ever seen—in fact with a 27-inch screen, it's probably the first time anyone's ever made one this size. Whether or not this is excessive for a home PC will depend on your...

The Verdict: This is all quite a hassle considering Boot Camp has worked so smoothly on most other Apple machines in the past. A few instructions or warnings would have at least prepared us for the surprise and ordeal. The new iMac is definitely not ready for...

Review Summary: Put one of Apple's new 27-inch Core i7 iMacs on your desk, and you run the risk of alienating yourself from your friends, co-workers and loved ones. Sure, the sheer speed of the thing is amazing -- the new Core i7 processor is outrageously fast -- but...

The Verdict: As with all of its computers, Apple bundles Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. You also get a copy of iLife 09, which includes iMovie, Garage Band and iPhoto software. Apple's productivity suite, iWork 09, isn't included

Review Summary: The largest and first quad core iMac takes the stage.

The Verdict: The 27-inch iMac is already a milestone for Apple through its inclusion of a truly greater-than-HD display, but the addition of Core i5 and Core i7 processors transforms it into a near powerhouse. This is the first iMac in recent memory to come close...

Review Summary: This year's new and improved models

The Verdict: The new iMacs introduce the most drastic changes to Apple's all in one aluminum design since the metal iMac was introduced a little over two years ago. The new design lends itself more towards use as central part of a home entertainment centre.

Slick Machine
pixelm 24th Nov 2008
I must say that the latest iMac is an impressive machine. It is super fast, sleek and takes up minimal desk space despite its monster 24" screen. The new OS has some really nice perks - but my favorite change is the new flat monitor. It turns out to be quite ergonomic - and proves to be far more comfortable on my wrists both with and without a wrist guard.
