I bought this camera about three weeks ago. I decided on this model as it was one of the few hard drive camcorders in my price range. I chose this over a comparable Sony based on reviews stating ease of use and decent playback picture quality. The only complaint I read was the relatively short battery life. I went ahead and bought a five hour battery. I've found the camcorder very easy to use and was up and running in just a few minutes. Picture quality on my computer and T.V. was very good (at least good enough for me). I've recorded indoor and out; day and night (including Holiday displays). I have no complaints with sound or picture (contrary to a prior review I have not found the picture to be grainy - perhaps that other person bought a defective unit?). I bought mine at hhgregg for $250; it was $100 off the original price of $379 and another 10 percent as the only units they had left were the floor models. I was also told that this model was being discontinued. I have not used the still camera mode yet.
I have found the software that same with the camera to be a bit difficult to use and transferring from the camera to the computer could be a bit more intuitive (as intuitive as actually using the camera itself would have been quite nice).
