The Good: Excellent performance and photo quality; good video capture capabilities and quality.

The Bad: No built-in wireless controller; large spot meter; no built-in flash; more direct controls would be nice; AF system could use an update.

The Bottom Line: A great follow-up to the 5D and top-flight full-frame camera, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II delivers the fluid shooting experience and fine photos you expect from a professional model.

Review Summary: and it offers a higher resolution sensor, live view, Full HD video recording, a larger/sharper LCD, HDMI output, and much more

The Verdict: All things considered, the Canon EOS-5D Mark II is a very impressive digital SLR. For the Canon enthusiast who wants to step up to a full-frame body, it's an excellent choice. I'm not quite sure that it's the ideal camcorder replacement, due to the...

Review Summary: Let's cut to the chase- the Canon EOS 5D Mark II does live up to its billing. It takes a great full-frame DSLR, the original 5D (Pop Photo's 2005 Camera of the Year), boosts damn near everything, adds high-definition video capture, and turns in an...

    July 3, 2009 | 12:00 AM PDT

Review Summary: When Canon announced the 5D back in 2005, it was a game-changer. The camera was the first full-frame DSLR--meaning that its CMOS sensor is the same size as a frame of 35mm film, about 60 percent larger than the sensors in most DSLRs--in a standard...

The Verdict: For those with big ambitions--and a budget to match--it's hard to go wrong with the 5D. It offers professional features and image quality in a prosumer body, and as an added bonus, you get incredible, if sometimes tricky-to-use 1080p video capability.
