The Good: Very fast; excellent photo quality; flexible autofocus system; big, bright viewfinder; streamlined interface; adds wireless flash control.

The Bad: Single card slot; some annoying small and hard-to-feel buttons; limited to three shots for bracketing; Live View focusing still slow.

The Bottom Line: An excellent midrange dSLR, the Canon EOS 7D delivers for the money.

    December 21, 2011 | 12:00 AM PST

Review Summary: The Canon EOS 7D is Canon's top of the range APS-C camera. Below it sit the compact forms of the EOS 1100D, EOS 600D and EOS 60D and above it the full-frame glory of the £200 more expensive EOS 5D MKII.

The Verdict: If you want to shoot video, the decision swings towards the 7D. The 7D is undeniably excellent camera, but for once, that doesn't make the decision any easier.

Review Summary: Updated A superb top-end DSLR for photo-mad consumers. Choosing between this, the 5D MKII and the Nikon D300S isn't easy, though.

The Verdict: The obvious decision for anyone looking to buy a Canon is whether to go for the 7D or splash out on the 5D MKII. With the 5D MKII costing around £450 extra, it's not an easy choice.

The Verdict: There was a lot of talk about the 7D being a "RED Killer." And while that might be a bit of an overstatement, I have been able to cut spots that use both REDOne and 7D footage, with the two cameras intercut seamlessly (with a little color correction,...
