TiVo Premiere XL4
The TiVo Premiere Elite might be a luxury, but it's definitely a luxury worth paying for.

CNET Review
The Good: The TiVo Premiere Elite can record from four tuners at once to its 2TB of storage. TiVo continues to offer a best-in-class DVR experience, plus a top-notch suite of streaming-video services, including Netflix and Hulu Plus.
The Bad: Cable cutters and satellite subscribers will be disappointed that the Elite works with digital cable and Verizon Fios only. And even if TiVo does work with your cable provider, you won't be able to access any pay-per-view or VOD content. The Elite is $500 plus $500 for lifetime service or $19.99 a month, which is much more than the alternatives. And there's still no built-in Wi-Fi.
The Bottom Line: The TiVo Premiere Elite might be a luxury, but it's definitely a luxury worth paying for.

Review Summary: With the recent spring TiVo Premiere update we figured it was as good of a time as any to spend some quality time with the newly-renamed TiVo Premiere XL4. The highest model in the TiVo line, the XL4 costs $399 plus $15 a month, or $499 for lifetime...
The Verdict: TiVo continues to stand head and shoulders over provider-issued DVRs, but it still falls short of the expectations we had when it first launched.

Review Summary: In an era when most cable and satellite TV companies will rent you a fully-functional HD digital video recorder for a few bucks a month, why spend $500 for a TiVo Premiere Elite (which also records high-def video)—plus $20 a month for the TiVo service?...
The Verdict: While its ability to record 4 shows simultaneously and its search and streaming media support impress, the TiVo Premiere Elite suffers from lack of support for cable providers' on-demand media--and it's very pricey.

Review Summary: The TiVo Premiere features the first refresh of the TiVo interface in quite some time. While not everyone is a fan, most say that it is stunning and easy to use. The TiVo's Discovery Bar makes it easy to explore offerings both from your cable...

Review Summary: What started as Jim Barton and Mike Ramsay's idea in 1997 became a reality in 1999 when TiVo burst on the scene and changed the way people watch TV. While time-shifting programs had been around for years via VCR, you couldn't pause live TV, watch one...
The Verdict: The hardware sports a 400megahertz dual-core processor (only one core is active at this time for stability reasons). There's also 512 megabytes of RAM and a 320-gigabyte (45 HD hours) hard drive for the base unit (reviewed here) or a 1-terabyte (150 HD...

Review Summary: TiVo Premiere is the first true overhaul of the TiVo experience since the company changed our TV-watching world over a decade ago.
The Verdict: The new TiVo Premiere units are slimmer and sleeker than previous revisions, with simple, colored circular lights on the front to show you if the unit is on or recording a program, or what actions you may be performing with the remote. Sadly, the handy...

The Verdict: Though not as polished as it should be, the TiVo Premiere is still the best DVR on the market and leagues better than the typical DVR from your cable company.

Review Summary: TiVo has taken its sweet time (about three years) to build its latest DVR, TiVo Premiere ($299.99 list), which takes most of what was good with the TiVo HD ($299.99, ) and updates it with new hardware and software. The TiVo Premiere is a Series4 DVR...
The Verdict: The TiVo Premiere is a good upgrade if you're already a TiVo HD or Series3 user, and an even-better upgrade if you still have an older Series2 TiVo DVR. If you're satisfied with the service on your cable company's DVR, however, that's likely to be a...
