The Good: Fast print speeds; allows for greater control over image settings; optional battery pack available; able to crop images on printer; can save images to external storage devices; adjustable LCD.

The Bad: Photo quality could be improved; frames are limited mostly to Disney-themed ones.

The Bottom Line: With its range of features, decent print quality, and fast print speeds, the Epson PictureMate Snap is a solid choice for snapshooters who want an at-home photo lab.

Review Summary: Epson's PictureMate 240 is the bulkiest portable printer in this group, but the advantage is that it's sturdily built.

The Verdict: The printer that thinks it's a coolbox. Low-cost compact that prints stunning photos.

The Verdict: The PictureMate Snap's control buttons on the printer's top surround a mediocre 2.5-inch LCD screen for image preview and menu navigation. Apparently, Epson will be improving this feature in forthcoming models. The top of the printer also houses the...

The Verdict: Great photo prints and some good on-printer editing tools - shame about the looks, though

Review Summary: Having taken the photographs, why wait to see the printed results when portable printers are available.

The Verdict: While a look-alike lunch box might not top your list of preferred equipment when considering your photographic needs - stranger things have happened. When you realise that this particular lunch box is really a portable printer that provides photo-lab...

Review Summary: In the first of our photo-printer reviews, Canon's sophisticated Selphy CP730 demonstrates storming print quality, setting high standards for its competitors.

The Verdict: It's not the best-looking photo printer around, but the Epson PictureMate more than makes up for this with its strong print quality and admirable ease of use. Recommended.

Review Summary: This is a 15x10cm photo printer, however it is very unlikely to be confused with any other manufacturers product on looks as it is certainly very distinctive in appearance.

The Verdict: Perhaps if I called the ruggedised that would best describe the look, it is gun metal grey and looks exactly like a solid metal box and because of this it weights around 2.6kilos. This would increase if you had the optional battery pack to allow you...
